a Create a Card CD during the hours of

step, using their new Create a Card CD

cards. Everyone is welcome to attend and
will be invited to try the CD at the
demonstration if they’d like to take
advantage of the opportunity!
What is World Card Making Day?
World Card Making
Day is the first Saturday of
October…which makes it October 8th
this year! It not only kicks off the
card making inspired by the holiday
season (the most popular time for card
making and card sending), but it
celebrates the creativity of handmade
cards and the unique connection they
create between family and friends.
Everyone who has an interest in card
making is encouraged to participate
from: seasoned card makers to beginning
card makers to leading industry
designers to product manufacturers to
the press. World Card Making Day is
meant to connect people with similar
interests of creativity, paper design
and crafts and those who just love to
give and receive cards! Connecting to
others within the same industry will
provide card makers across the world
with the resources they need to empower,
inspire and encourage as they continue
to develop their talents through card
making and other creative outlets.
Why Celebrate?
World Card Making Day celebrates a
tradition that dates all the way back to
the ancient Chinese. Card making is now
a world wide hobby (of particular
popularity in Australia, Canada, the UK
and the US). 1 in 6 households spend
time making greeting cards. 86% of
scrapbookers also make greeting cards.
92% of paper crafters list greeting
cards as their most common paper
project. The majority of card makers
prefer the use of stamps and rub-ons and
73% of card makers incorporate their
personal computers into their card
designs in some way. And the top five
most popular theme for handmade cards
are: birthdays, winter holidays
(Christmas, Hanukah, etc.), thank you,
Valentine’s Day, and Mother’s Day!
