Perfect attendance
will equal a brand new 2007 Pontiac G5
for one lucky Agua Fria High School
District senior graduating in May 2007.
The vehicle will be awarded through a
drawing to be hosted by Yates Buick
Pontiac GMC the Saturday following the
2007 high school graduation ceremony.
Any senior in the Agua Fria High School
District graduating in May of 2007 will
be eligible for the Yates Buick Pontiac
GMC “It’s Cool to Be in School” drawing
as long as they have perfect attendance
for the entire 2006-2007 school year,
and a valid driver’s license. The winner
must also be present at the drawing in
order to receive the car; but once
they’ve achieved a year of perfect
attendance one last required appearance
won’t be any difficulty!
Yates Buick Pontiac
GMC hopes the year leading up to the
drawing will encourage students to
attend classes. Regular attendance is
accepted as an important factor
contributing to student success in any
curriculum. The event is being promoted
as the “It’s Cool to Be in School”
Giveaway and, let’s face it, nothing can
be cooler to a teenager than a brand new
car. The event will be promoted to the
students as well as parents of students
attending schools within the Agua Fria
High School District.
Through the event,
Yates is attempting to support local
efforts to improve student success
through improved attendance. History
portrays significant associations
between truancy and/or non-attendance,
low student achievement, low
self-esteem, reduced employment
potential and reduced earning potential.
In addition to the academic and career
oriented success levels that can be
damaged through non-attendance, the
school experience is one that is
accepted as vital to the holistic
development of any young person.
Maximizing attendance rates will
maximize the experience of each and
every student and therefore, each
student’s success at school.
